CORGI Registration

CORGI - the Council for Registered Gas Installers - is the National Watchdog for Gas Safety in the United Kingdom.

CORGI was founded in 1970, in the wake of the Ronan Point apartment block tragedy. Originally gas installers could be affiliated to CORGI on a voluntary basis,
however in 1991, the Health & Safety executive asked CORGI to maintain a register of competent installers.

This register now includes Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man and registration is now a legal requirement for businesses and self-employed fitters working on gas fittings or appliances. Only people with appropriate qualifications and skills are admitted to the register, and only those registered with CORGI are legally allowed to carry out gas installation and maintenance work..

Once registered, businesses are required to renew their registration each year prior to 1st April. Under the Rules for Registration, installers are required to notify CORGI of all installation and exchanges of a gas appliance within a residential dwelling. Apart from direct benefits to Gas Safety, this process will also help Gas Registered Installers to comply with relevant Building Regulation Requirements.

CORGI registered installers provide piece of mind and security. Mooretech engineers are CORGI registered, so you can be safe in the knowledge that you're being served by a reputable business, where safety and customer satisfaction are paramount.
